Report: David Beckham’s son Brooklyn signs for Arsenal

Arsene Wenger has always been known for his uncanny ability to spot world-class talent at a young age. However, it may not have been too difficult this time around.

Legendary English midfielder David Beckham has seen his son (pictured, left, at the World Cup final) sign for Arsenal, according to a report by the Daily Star.

According to the report, which quotes an “Arsenal source,” 15-year-old Beckham junior has been signed through the end of the season and there are hopes for a long-term deal. It also says that there was interest from David’s former club Manchester United.

There is history between the Beckham’s and Arsenal. Brooklyn’s younger brother Romeo has been playing for the club’s U-13 side this season, and the youngest – 9-year-old Cruz – has trained with the Arsenal youth setup as well.  In addition, David trained with the Gunners two summers ago to maintain fitness before signing with Paris Saint-Germain.

Brooklyn was on trial with now-Championship side Fulham last season, and has reportedly been looked at by Chelsea in the past.

The Daily Star contacted Arsenal through more official means as well, but the spokesperson dismissed it, saying “If Brooklyn has signed a contract with us it would be unusual for us to comment.”

Needless to say, the Gunners youth system has gotten a whole lot better looking, if nothing else.
