At the half: Sounders, FC Dallas scoreless in close-contested battle

Seattle Sounders and FC Dallas are tied 0-0 at the half in the second leg of the Eastern Conference semifinals. And it’s no surprise that Clint Dempsey and Obafemi Martins combined for the majority of scoring chances in the opening 45 minutes.

One of the more noteworthy stops occurred when Dempsey wiggled his way into the box to snag Martins’ ball around the 40-minute mark. He blasted a wide-open shot on frame right in the middle of the penalty area, but he couldn’t pick a corner, as his shot drove straight at FC Dallas goalkeeper Chris Seitz.

In the 28th minute, Chad Marshall banged a header on net, but great positioning by Dallas defender Michel allowed him to clear the looping ball off the line.

Fabian Castillo, as usual, made a few dangerous runs into the opposition’s end; however, nothing very threatened materialized.

The Toros need to score one goal in order to survive, while Seattle would seal the victory and advance to the Western Conference finals with a scoreless draw.
