On Saturday Danny Welbeck is due to line up against Manchester United for the first time in his career.
However, Arsenal’s striker could be struggling to be fit for the monster clash at the Emirates (Watch live, NBC, 12:30 p.m. ET and online via Live Extra) after getting injured on international duty.

Welbeck, 23, came off in the 66th minute of England’s 3-1 win over Scotland at Celtic Park on Tuesday with an injury to his hamstring. Following his $26 million move to Arsenal from Manchester United — the club where he had spent his entire career — on Deadline Day, Welbeck will be desperate to line up against Louis van Gaal’s side and prove the Dutchman wrong for agreeing to let him leave Old Trafford.
The England international scored twice in the Three Lions’ 3-1 win over Slovenia last Saturday and has looked sharp for Arsenal, scoring five times in his opening 12 games for the Gunners. Welbeck was expected to be assessed by Arsenal’s medical staff on Wednesday to see if he can make the Premier League clash in North London on Saturday.
It will be a game he will not want to miss given that United are his boyhood club and he grew up in Manchester.
But now instead of focusing on meeting up with old friends and putting one over his old team, Welbeck is only focused on one thing ahead of United’s visit: being fit to face the Red Devils.
