Video: Warnock delighted with “old fashioned cup tie” from Palace

As one of the Premier League’s more outgoing, eccentric managers, it’s games like this that keeps Neil Warnock going even when the team is struggling.

Crystal Palace defeated Liverpool thanks to a scintillating performance by Yannick Bolasie who ran circles around the Liverpool defense while assisting a pair of goals. And for Warnock, he was most proud of the work rate his team put out on the field from start to finish.

“I thought the fans got behind us, it was just like an old fashioned cup tie,” Warnock said. “And we created some great chances. We tried to win the game with some good football and we were solid at the back and looked well organized so it was an overall very good performance.”

Liverpool scored two minutes into the match through Rickie Lambert, but it was all downhill there for the Reds, and Warnock had nothing but good things to say about his team’s ability to earn three points and pick themselves out of the relegation zone.

Warnock was gracious enough to spend some time watching his team score, and talked about how he tactically swapped his wingers halfway through the match and it paid off.

A pretty hilarious moment at the end saw Warnock have a laugh watching himself celebrate before declaring “that’s why you come back for more. We get so much stick don’t we managers, and that was a Neil Warnock performance today I thought from my lads, I was really proud of them today.”
