Following a massive win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League, Vincent Kompany and Pablo Zabaleta both got some more good news.
The two Manchester City backs were named to the 20-man shortlist of defenders nominated for FIFA’s FIFPro 2014 World XI.

Four defenders will be chosen from the list to form the back line for the world’s best eleven players. The complete FIFPro World XI will be announced at the Ballon d’Or awards ceremony on January 12.
Chelsea’s Filipe Luis and Branislav Ivanovic join the Manchester City pair as the only current Premier League defenders nominated for this prestigious honor.
David Luiz has also made the shortlist after a strong campaign at Chelsea led to a record move to Paris Saint-Germain this summer for nearly $80 million.

Europe’s biggest clubs dominate the list as Real Madrid leads the way with five defenders nominated, followed by four players from Barcelona and three from Bayern Munich.
Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos and Barcelona’s Dani Alves are both in the running the make their fourth straight World XI after being named to the teams in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
