Burnley 1-1 Aston Villa: Ings grabs point as Villa winless skid hits nine

Aston Villa’s winless streak looked set to end at 8 games thanks to Joe Cole, whose 38th minute goal put the visitors ahead at Turf Moor.

But Burnley’s Danny Ings scored his third goal in two matches on an 87th minute penalty to send Villa to a ninth-straight game without a victory.

The Clarets are still in the drop zone with 11 points, two behind No. 16 Aston Villa (13 points).

An early chance for Aston Villa was cleared off the line, as Paul Lambert’s squad came out of the gates hard in an effort to snap a long streak without a win.

Cole, of all people, starting the scoring in the 38th minute with a sliding redirection of a Andreas Weimann shot from the right outside of the 18.

When the Villa win seemed assured in this relatively-sleepy affair, Burnley picked up a late penalty. Could Brad Guzan play the hero?

No. Danny Ings converted and the points were shared. He hit the post in stoppage time on a would-be winning attempt.
