West Ham United beat West Bromwich Albion 2-1 at the Hawthorns, as the Hammers continued their fine form, while the Baggies drop dangerously close to the bottom three as their run of defeats continues.

The home side took the lead early on through Craig Dawson’s header but they couldn’t build on that early lead as West Ham scored twice before the break through Kevin Nolan and James Tomkins. With the win the Hammers are in fifth spot with 24 points after 14 games, while West Brom have now lost four in a row and are just two points and two places above the drop zone.

The Baggies took the lead inside the first 10 minutes as Graham Dorrans whipped in a vicious free kick from the left flank which Dawson headed home powerfully. 1-0 to the Baggies.
West Brom continued to create chances and looked the brighter side but the Hammers dug deep and Nolan equalized after 35 minutes. A free kick which chipped and Andy Carroll sent a spectacular overhead kick towards goal which Ben Foster saved brilliantly but Nolan pounced to make it 1-1. Just before half time the Hammers went ahead as James Tomkins headed home to turn the game on its head in first half stoppage time.

The home side almost leveled with the first chance of the second half but Saido Berahino fluffed a great effort and then Dawson missed a glorious chance to make it 2-2. West Ham tried to shut up shop by bringing on defenders to secure the win but the Baggies just kept pouring forward as both Anichebe and Dorrans went close in quick-succession.
However it wasn’t to be West Brom’s night, as West Ham returned to London with all three points.
