PHOTO: Marcus Hahnemann announces his retirement from inside a treehouse fit for a king

Marcus Hahnemann, former goalkeeper for the Seattle Sounders (twice), Colorado Rapids, Reading and Wolverhampton Wanderers, announced his retirement late Wednesday night.

That Hahnemann, who is now 42 years old and has made just 11 starts across all competitions since leaving Wolves in May 2011, has retired is not an earth-shattering surprise or newsworthy in itself.

But the way in which Hahnemann announced his retirement? Now there’s a story to share on a soccer blog if you’ve got one. Well, would you look at that — I’ve got myself a soccer blog here.

Complete with the caption, “Officially retired again for 4 th time. Hanging in a #treehouse,” Hahnemann announces his playing days are finished in one magnificent picture:

In summary, Marcus Hahnemann announced his retirement from professional soccer by posting a picture of himself in the world’s most decked-out, bar-stocked treehouse to Instagram, as if that is a normal thing to do. When I grow up, I want to be Marcus Hahnemann.
