Europa League preview: Final day holds little drama for Premier League teams

Thursday’s final day of UEFA Europa League group play won’t be extremely attractive for those who only follow the competition for Premier League teams.

Everton and Tottenham Hotspur are both through to the knockout round, with the Toffees having clinched their group and Spurs needing just a point against Besiktas to grab a seeded spot.

As for USMNT connections, Fabian Johnson and Borussia Monchengladbach are through with a draw or better against Zurich, but can also go through with a loss if Apollon Limassol holds or beat Villarreal in Cyprus.

However Thursday shakes out, we know eight teams set for the tournament’s next stage: Olympiakos, Liverpool, Zenit St. Petersburg, Anderlecht, Roma, Ajax, Sporting Lisbon and Athletic Bilbao finished third in their respective UEFA Champions League groups and dropped into Europa.
