For many fathers, watching their son play in the Premier League would be a dream come true.

For Gus Poyet, he’s hoping his son doesn’t even make the bench.

That’s because Sunderland is taking on West Ham tomorrow, the club his son Diego plays for.

You can watch the match live at 10 a.m. ET online via Live Extra.

Luckily for Gus, the likelihood his son features for the Hammers is slim, as the 19-year-old has just returned from a short loan spell in the Championship and has only made two appearances for West Ham this season, who sit fourth on the table.

When asked how it would be to face his son, the Black Cats’ manager said it will be strictly business on Saturday.

I’ve been trying to stay away from him and I’ll avoid him until after the game. It’s not nice but it’s only been a few days.

I hope he doesn’t play because it will be a strange feeling. I want him to do well in the Premier League but on Saturday, I don’t care how he does.

We say in Spanish there are no friends on the pitch and this time, it is no family out there either.”

Whether Diego plays or not, Gus will be hoping his side can upset the Hammers at the Stadium of Light. While Sunderland has been stout defensively, keeping clean sheets in three of their last four matches, they have also struggled to win games with nine draws through 15 matches.
