Wretched news arose in the footballing world earlier today.
Reports emerged that three Zambia internationals have been injured in a serious crash, as the Zesco United bus collided into another motor vehicle. The incident has caused a total of four fatalities, according to the statement released below, and it occurred as players were on their way to Zambia team national camp.
“Sources at the accident scene reported that the driver of the Zesco United bus died at the scene, as did three others on the other vehicle..The players were travelling to Lusaka for a national team camp ahead of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations,” said the Football Association of Zambia in a statement.
President of the Zambia FA Kalusha Bwalya released a Twitter announcementthat Zambia team manager Lusekelo Kamwambi and assistant coach Chintu Kampamba had both been hurt on the scene and were promptly taken to the hospital for treatment.

Other footballers affected include defender Nyambe Mulenga, Changwe Kalale and Chakao Siachimo, and none of these men were detrimentally wounded.
“Defender Nyambe Mulenga sustained a fractured right leg and is in a stable condition. Changwe Kalale, who got a lift, and Chakao Siachimo, who came for negotiations, are both stable,” Zesco United released in a statement.
The international team camp was set to take place before a friendly against South Africa on Jan. 4 prior to the start of the Africa Cup of Nations on Jan.17.
