Leicester City 1-2 Tottenham Hotspur: Lloris holds off the Foxes

Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane scored for the visitors, but birthday boy Hugo Lloris was the star as Tottenham took all three points from Leicester City with a 2-1 win at King Power Stadium on Saturday.

Leonardo Ulloa netted for the Foxes in a match that was anything but sedate.

Leicester remains in the Premier League’s basement, while Spurs are up to sixth. That’s one point back of West Ham despite a tough start under Mauricio Pochettino.

Lloris was phenomenal on the day he turned 28 and, with respect to Thibaut Courtois, perhaps no goalkeeper in the Premier League is playing better than Tottenham’s Frenchman.

It didn’t take long for the visitors to net, as Kane took one touch of Nacer Chadli’s cross before slotting home with his second as the clock struck 1:00.

Nabil Bentaleb was sprung for a long run but touched himself out of a finish for it. Thirty-three minutes had gone and the score remained 1-0.

Birthday boy Hugo Lloris was then called upon to make a lunging save on Riyad Mahrez to keep the advantage for Spurs.

But Ulloa posted up in front of Lloris to cheekily tap an equalizer in just after halftime.

And Schlupp nearly curled a bullet into the goal, only to see Lloris extend to push it away.

Then came Eriksen’s 71st minute free kick, which bounded around the wall and past Hamer to restore Tottenham’s one-goal lead.

Lloris was called upon several times late, and even bloodied by a late charge, but preserved the win.
