Alan Pardew will not yet take charge of Crystal Palace, but he is in attendence after bolting from his longtime post at Newcastle for a job at the relegation-threatened Eagles. He will look on before his first match in London at 10am ET live on Premier League Extra Time or live online at NBC Sports Live Extra.
The 53-year-old spent four tumultuous years in charge of the Magpies, and has left for a seemingly lower-pressure job at Palace where he replaces Neil Warnock who was sacked just days ago. Keith Millen stepped in as caretaker for one match over the holidays, and he will be on the touchline today.
Palace sits in 18th position in the table, just three points off the bottom but only down in the relegation zone on goal differential. They will be without midfield rock and captain Mile Jedinak who has joined up with the Australian squad for the Asia Cup. Marouane Chamakh also misses out after failing to prove fit with a nagging thigh injury.
Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has had his fair share of injuries and other lineup issues to work around this season, but there’s good news today. Fabian Delph is suspended after losing a red card appeal, but both Tom Cleverley and Ciaran Clark have proven fit and both are in the squad today.
Gabriel Agbonlahor and Kieran Richardson are both back from suspension, and Joe Cole has returned to the squad from an ankle injury to make the bench.
