So, now that Steven Gerrard has confirmed he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season and “won’t be playing for a competing club and will not therefore be lining up against Liverpool,” where will Gerrard be heading?

The most likely destination, according to numerous reports, is Major League Soccer but European giants such as Real Madrid, Roma and Bayern Munich are also reportedly in the hunt.
Gerrard, 34, has been strongly linked with a move to the LA Galaxy with rumors of a two-year deal being offered to the Liverpool skipper but here’s a look at two other MLS teams who could conceivably afford Gerrard and offer him a high-profile end to his illustrious career.
The front-runners for Gerrard’s signature, LA have an open DP spot after Landon Donovan’s retirement and are the dream destination for star players looking to enjoy the Californian lifestyle as their careers wind down. Gerrard would be able to experience a completely new lifestyle with his young family while linking up with ex-Liverpool teammate Robbie Keane as the Galaxy aim to enhance their MLS dynasty.
New York City FC
With the Frank Lampard situation spiraling out of control, NYCFC need to deliver another big name for their fans in order to get them back on board. New York have a final DP spot open and they are heading to England’s North West for preseason in February. Could Gerrard link up with them then and become a star in the Big Apple alongside David Villa and Lampard (when/if he does turn up)?
New York Red Bulls
A little less likely given the fact that the Red Bull ownership group are said to be tightening the purse strings following the departure of Thierry Henry and the uncertainty surrounding Tim Cahill. RBNY certainly need to try and compete with the star players their new rivals NYCFC are signing up, so maybe grabbing Gerrard makes sense? Add in the fact that the man who gave Gerrard his Liverpool debut and made him captain of his hometown club, Gerard Houllier, is influential with the Red Bulls as their Head of Global Football, and plenty of dots start to get connected.
