Such is the embarrassment of riches at Real Madrid that a player who cannot get minutes at the Bernabeu could fetch $30 million.
That’s the fee thrown around for French international defender Raphael Varane, currently stuck for playing time behind Sergio Ramos and Pepe for the UEFA Champions League title holders.

And The Daily Star claims that Varane, 21, is ready to engineer a move away from Real Madrid in order to get to Old Trafford, with Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal more than willing to buy up the talented 6-foot-3 youngster.
Varane has played 8 times in La Liga, six times in the Champions League and twice in Cup competitions, so this rumor isn’t entirely easy to digest. He’s also made the shortlist for Defender of the Year so, yeah, again, why would they sell?
That said, a player who regularly plays for France at age 21 will want to sharpen his game a lot more, and could be a long-term answer for Manchester United.
Additionally, Varane’s reported price tag makes Luke Shaw’s look even crazier. Brits overvaluing Brits, we suppose.
