The only goal of the match arrived just before the break as Paul Konchesky hammered home to make it 1-0. Aston Villa filed to get going, as Leicester failed to convert plenty of chances to make the win a more comfortable one.

A red card late in the game for both teams following a mass brawl made no real difference as the Foxes have now won two of their last three to breathe new life into their campaign. With the victory Leicester remain in 20th but are now on 17 points, while Villa are in 13th spot but are just three points off the relegation zone.

Early on David Nugent missed a glorious chance as Marc Albrighton picked him out in the box but the Leicester striker squandered the opportunity.

Nugent had another effort at the back post which he should have done better with, and the former Preston North End striker then smashed the crossbar.

Just before the break Leicester’s defender Konchesky showed him how it was done, as the left back arrived on the edge of the box and drilled home a beauty to make it 1-0 to the Foxes at the interval.

After the break U.S. national team ‘keeper Brad Guzan stood on his head as Villa were bombarded by the Foxes but Guzan came up big time and time again.

Villa battled hard to try and get back into the game, but a mass brawl saw two red cards dished out late in the game as Matty James and Ciaran Clark were both given their marching orders with tempers flaring on the pitch and on the pitch in this intense derby.

However, the Foxes held on to seal a vital win in their battle against relegation.
