West Ham and Swansea shared the points at the Liberty Stadium, and will now hope their competition for European places doesn’t take advantage.

Andy Carroll scored for Newcastle before Mark Noble conceded a harshly-awarded own goal in a 1-1 draw on Saturday.

Swansea stays ninth with 30 points, while West Ham is a point below 5th place Tottenham.

Carroll’s opener was worth the wait, with the big Englishman unleashing a left-footer from inside the 18 that left no hope for a save. It was 1-0 West Ham.

But Gomis rose high to head a corner home, only to have Mark Noble credited with an own goal in the 74th minute to tie the score at 1.
