Things have gone much better recently for Inter Milan with Roberto Mancini in charge.
The club is unbeaten in its last three, including an away draw at league leaders Juventus last week. They just wrapped up a 3-1 win over 5th-placed Genoa at home with in-form striker Mauro Icardi on the scoresheet, and the 3 points put them into the top 10 for the first time in a while.
But the soccer gods aren’t going to let Inter have nice things without taking a few on the chin. Literally.
Poor Roberto Mancini got a rude wake-up call to make sure he wasn’t falling asleep after going 2-0 up. Defender Marco Andreolli wanted to end a counter-attack for Genoa, so he did what many defenders are taught to do and boot the ball out of play…right into the face of his manager.
The Italian boss went down hard.
One more time, but in slow motion, shall we?
Wheeeee! Look out folks! Always on your toes. Best part is the reaction of the Inter players after their manager has been felled, which was exactly no reaction. Just keep jogging as your manager is bleeding out!
Mancini was fine, for the record, and had a laugh about it while on his rear end. I’m sure the eventual win will ease the pain a bit.
