Cristiano Ronaldo has urged Real Madrid’s fans to get off Gareth Bale’s back.
Bale, the most expensive player in the world, was heckled by Real’s fans during their 3-0 win over Espanyol on Saturday after failing to pass the ball to a wide-open Ronaldo and instead putting a shot wide of the target.

The 25-year-old Welshman was jeered by home supporters, but reigning two-time World Player of the Year Ronaldo thinks Real’s fans should tone it down a little.
After all, Bale’s importance to the Spanish giants will escalate in years to come as Ronaldo edges towards the end of his career.
“The people will be nice with him and they should be nice,” Ronaldo said. “Things with Gaz are normal. They [fans] know that Gaz is a very important player for us, a key player… What happened on Saturday is in the past, sometimes I make mistakes too so it’s part of the business, part of football. Madrid fans are always the same, they are very intense, they show what they feel, they aren’t liars.”
Rumors continue to persist about Bale heading to Manchester United and back to England following his $132 million record transfer from Tottenham Hotspur to Real back in September 2013.

But after scoring goals in the Copa del Rey and UEFA Champions League final wins last season, Bale has proved his worth to Real and is one of the first names on Carlo Ancelotti’s teamsheet but he has only scored 14 goals in 29 appearances for club and country this campaign.

Were Real’s fans correct to boo Bale for his moment of greed? Would they do the same to Ronaldo?
