There was also a win for Oman to see out their time in Oz, as group play finishes up on Tuesday before the knockout round begins.

Below is the latest from Oz, as two games took place on Saturday.

Australia 0-1 South Korea

With top spot in Group A on the line, South Korea stunned hosts Australia in Brisbane on Saturday as Lee Jeong-hyeop’s goal was the difference. The Socceroos dominated possession and had plenty more efforts but could not break down the stubborn South Korean squad who won Group A, following three 1-0 victories, as Australia now face China on Thursday in the quarterfinal. South Korea face either Uzbekistan or Saudi Arabia in the last eight.

Oman 1-0 Kuwait

Oman sealed third spot in Group A as Abdulaziz Al Maqbali’s header lead them to a 1-0 victory over Kuwait in Newcastle. Kuwait finished bottom of the group after three defeats from three games in a tournament to forget.

PL player watch: Swansea’s Ki Sung-Yueng captain South Korea to victory as the midfielder lived in Brisbane for four years and had a winning return to Australia. Crystal Palace’s Mile Jedinak missed out through injury.

MLS player watch: Tim Cahill came on as a second half sub for Australia but could not seal an equalizer.
