Swansea City manager Garry Monk said he apologized to Chelsea counterpart Jose Mourinho for “not giving them a game” during Saturday’s 5-0 waxing at the Liberty Stadium.
But Mourinho didn’t want an apology. He lauded Monk’s team for their overall style of play, and that Chelsea had a bit of luck.

“Top Ten, but maybe Top Five in the quality of their football, so yes 5-0 is unexpected for us but everything went in our direction,” Mourinho said, later adding a paraphrased quote, “It’s better to lose one game 5-0, than to lose five matches 5-0.”
Mourinho also said he never told his team to take its foot off the gas.
“I tell them to play seriously. I tell them to play as if the result was still open. It’s the best way to respect ourselves and the opponents and football.”
