Africa Cup of Nations roundup: Yannick Bolasie earns point for DR Congo


The second day of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations featured two evenly contested Group B matches, with Zambia drawing DR Congo 1-1, as Tunisia and the Cape Verde Islands also drew with the same score.

Fans clashed with police outside the stadium before Zambia’s match due to the long wait lines. Many fans showed up without tickets, while all supporters entering the stadium were forced to undergo Ebola testing.

Zambia 1-1 DR Congo

With the long wait to enter the stadium, many fans missed Given Singuluma give Zambia the lead just 62 seconds into the match. DR Congo pushed to level the score, but Zambia keeper Kennedy Mweene made a few crucial stops throughout the first half. It took DR Congo over an hour to equalize, when Crystal Palace winger Yannick Bolasie produced a fine finish in the 66th minute to earn a point for his country.

Tunisia 1-1 Cape Verde Islands

Group B saw another 1-1 draw at Ebebeyin Stadium deep in the jungle of Equatorial Guinea. Tunisia and Cape Verde Islands traded goals within ten minutes to finish tied at one, leaving the group completely even after one match. Ali Moncer put Tunisia ahead in the 70th minute, but Almeida Ramos converted from the spot just seven minutes later to even the score.
