After taking over as caretaker manager of Newcastle United, things have been looking grey for John Carver.

The Magpies conceded three goals in a New Year’s Day draw against Burnley, and have lost all three matches since.

Amidst the turnover after Alan Pardew’s departure, Carver is urging Newcastle to name its permanent manager, whether it be him or someone else.

The crowd are on the edge of their seats, waiting on a decision and the club have to make that soon.

They have to do something. We don’t deserve to drift away. The fans won’t put up with that and something has to be done.

Everybody isn’t sure what is going on. I think after the result (against Southampton) a decision has to be made – whether it’s me or someone else.”

What has made things even more painful for Newcastle supporters is the success of Crystal Palace, who has yet to lose under Alan Pardew.

Carver has publicly stated he would like to be the permanent manager at the club, but boos rained down at St. James’ Park after Newcastle lost to Southampton 2-1 this weekend. The loss dropped the Magpies down to 11th on the Premier League table.

French manager Remi Garde has been linked with the vacancy, but the former Arsenal midfielder is supposedly looking at other options as well. The Newcastle board has also said they have had no talks with Carver over his future as manager.
