Transfer rumor roundup: Ings to Tottenham Hotspur, Busquets to Manchester United

With just over a week to go until the transfer window slams shut, here’s the latest chatter from the gossip columns…

Tottenham Hotspur are said to be contemplating a move for Burnley forward Danny Ings. The England U-21 striker has just six months remaining on his deal at Turf Moor and is not close to signing a new deal with the newly-promoted outfit. With seven goals in 19 appearances in the Premier League this season, Ings is wanted by plenty of teams on a free this summer but could Spurs tempt Burnley to cash in for their prized possession and grab $10 million instead of nothing this summer? The Daily Mirror believes Chelsea and Manchester City are also keeping a close-eye on the 22-year-old forward.

According to numerous reports, former Newcastle United forward Shola Ameobi, 33, is wanted by both Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion. The Geordie had spent his entire career with his hometown club, but moved to Turkish club Gaziantep last year. However Ameobi is available on a free transfer and could link up with former boss Alan Pardew at Selhurst Park to add plenty of experience and power to the Eagles frontline. The Shields Gazette believes the deal is close, as Pardew only axed Ameobi from Newcastle six-months ago.

Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Austrian captain Aleksandar  Dragovic according to the Guardian. Dragovic, 23, is currently playing for Dynamo Kiev in the Ukraine but multiple reports claim United have had an offer of $22 million accepted for the central defender. Described as “the next Nemanja Vidic” that will be music to the ears of United’s fans as their defense continues to look lackluster, at best.

Another player United have their eye on, as do Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City, is Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets. The 26-year-old hopes to sign a new contract at the Nou Camp, but as talks continue the academy product is said to be weighing up offers from the Premier League big boys to head to England. Where would the holding midfielder slot in best? Probably Arsenal, but let’s see how this plays out.
