Klinsmann goes 3-5-2 versus Chile; Shea and Yedlin on the wings

Jurgen Klinsman is rolling out a 3-5-2 for Wednesday night’s match in Chile, and the United States men’s national team has a lot of faces in new(ish) places.

Real Salt Lake’s Nick Rimando is between the sticks for the States, and Jermaine Jones continues his time as a center back, sitting in the middle of DC United’s Steve Birnbaum and Sporting KC’s Matt Besler.

On top of them are Toronto FC’s Michael Bradley and New York City FC’s Mix Diskerud in holding roles, with Clint Dempsey (Seattle Sounders) captaining the club at CAM.

On the left wing it’s new Orlando City man Brek Shea, while Tottenham’s DeAndre Yedlin slides to the right side on top of Birnbaum.

Jozy Altidore of Toronto FC and Bobby Wood of 1860 Munich are up top, meaning four players with brand new clubs are in the starting lineup (and who knows if Wood will leave Munich before the end of the January transfer window?).

The bench sees stellar FC Dallas center back Matt Hedges along with Wil Trapp (Columbus), Lee Nguyen (New England),  Sean Johnson (Chicago), Perry Kitchen (DC), Shane O’Neill (Colorado), Chris Wondolowski (San Jose), Miguel Ibarra (Minnesota United) and Gyasi Zardes (L.A. Galaxy).
