Chelsea youth product Christian Atsu is fully enjoying his Super Bowl Sunday.
Playing for his country in the Africa Cup of Nations, the 23-year-old winger bagged a double today to bookend a comprehensive 3-0 win for Ghana over Guinea in their quarterfinal knockout match.
His second goal was sensational, and will certainly be turning heads back in England.
After cutting in from the right, he launched a 25-yard left-footed strike from the tightest of angles that floated perfectly over Guinea goalkeeper Naby-Moussa Yattara, just slipping under the bar and into the far corner.
On loan at Everton this season from the Blues, Atsu has seen very limited time for Roberto Martinez, with just three Premier League appearances this season and a host of unused substitute appearances on the bench. This will certainly make some Everton fans scratch their heads wondering why we haven’t seen more of him this year as Everton continues to scrap its way through and underwhelming league performance.
Meanwhile, Guinea have seen their lucky trip to the knockout stage cut short in disappointing fashion, after they won the controversial drawing of lots over Mali.
