James scores diving header, breaks foot in Real Madrid’s 2-1 win over Sevilla

This is one of those days Real Madrid wishes they had the money to afford depth.

Just kidding, they’re loaded with both, which is fortunate considering James Rodriguez underwent surgery for a broken metatarsal after leaving Wednesday’s 2-1 win over Sevilla.

James scored a diving header to put Real up 1-0, but then left the match with injury. Jese subbed in and scored the second before Liverpool loanee Iago Aspas pulled one back in the 80th minute.

Here’s the goal. It’s okay, I guess.

The surgery should knock James out for at least a month, which would mean he’d miss both legs of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 match-up with Schalke.

Nine yellow cards were handed out on Wednesday, with only three going to Madrid. Los Merengues maintain a 4-point La Liga table lead on Barcelona, and a 7-point lead on Atletico Madrid.
