Premier League roundup: Tottenham, Chelsea, Saints win; City slip up

Seven games took place in the Premier League on Saturday as we had some scintillating action, shocks and last-gasp drama.

Buckle up and expect plenty more madness in the PL between now and the end of the season.

Tottenham came from behind to beat bitter rivals Arsenal in the north London derby at White Hart Lane, Everton and Liverpool drew, Manchester City dropped points at home to Hull, while Chelsea, Southampton and Crystal Palace all secured away wins. Swansea and Sunderland shared the spoils in South Wales as there was plenty of drama up and down the land.

Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 ArsenalRECAP

Harry Kane was Spurs’ hero once again as the lad from Walthamstow can do no wrong. Arsenal went ahead through Mesut Ozil in the first half but Kane equalized with just over 30 minutes go and then scored a superb header (his 22nd of the season) with five minutes left to seal the win. Tottenham really deserved this win as they jumped ahead of Arsenal in the race for a top four finish.

Everton 0-0 Liverpool – RECAP

Stalemate in the Merseyside derby as Liverpool came closest to snatching all three points. Youngster Jordon Ibe got a surprise start and he smashed an incredible effort off the woodwork in the first half. Steven Gerrard tried his best to inspire Liverpool but the points were shared.

Manchester City 1-1 Hull City – RECAP

Hull took the lead in the first half through David Meyler’s strike and only an injury time goal from James Milner could spare City’s blushes. The Citizens are now seven points behind Chelsea in the race for the title and are without a win in four.

Aston Villa 1-2 Chelsea – RECAP

Eden Hazard put the Blues ahead at Villa but the home side came roaring back as Jores Okore equalized with their first goal in seven games. However Jose Mourinho’s men weren’t to be denied as Branislav Ivanovic belted in a beauty to put them clear at the top.

QPR 0-1 Southampton – RECAP

Saints huffed and puffed the entire game and Sadio Mane scored in the 93rd minute to give them a huge win away at QPR. The managerless R’s put up a good fight but Fraser Forster denied Charlie Austin as the Saints climbed to third place after a dramatic win.

Swansea City 1-1 Sunderland – RECAP

That man Jermain Defoe fired the Black Cats into the lead against the run of play. He know has two goals in three PL games for the Black Cats, already bettering Jozy Altidore’s goal tally in a Sunderland shirt. Swansea equalized in the second half through Ki as both teams had to settle for a point.

Leicester City 0-1 Crystal Palace – RECAP

Crystal Palace are flying. That’s five wins in six since Alan Pardew arrived as manager and the Eagles are soaring clear of the bottom three. Joe Ledley headed home the winner at the King Power Stadium, as Leicester remain bottom of the table.
