While the entertainment value of the game itself wasn’t particularly high for neutral viewers — not every game can be Saturday’s north London derby, after all — a point a piece for Everton and Liverpool in Saturday’s 0-0 Merseyside derby is certainly a decent haul.

Sharing that sentiment were Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers (above video) and Everton manager Roberto Martinez (below video), who in speaking during post-game television interviews both sounded extremely pleased with their respective side’s performance

Rodgers: “I thought we were very, very good in the game. The performance level of the players was outstanding. Firstly, we defended very well. … And going forward, we looked a real threat. Our movement was good, passing was good. … Overall, delighted.”

Martinez: “I thought that today was a very, very good performance from our point of view. It was a really interesting tactical battle on the pitch, two very different systems. We had our turn, they had a little bit of domination without creating much. … I was extremely satisfied and very, very pleased with the performance.”
