West Ham could be getting a boost in the midfield as the club looks set to sign Lassana Diarra to a contract for the remainder of the campaign.

The former Chelsea, Arsenal and Real Madrid midfielder is currently a free agent after leaving Lokomotiv Moscow at the end of last season.
Speaking to the media, Hammers’ boss Sam Allardyce confirmed that Diarra was training with the club, and seemed rather certain he would be remaining at Upton Park.

He is training with us. I’m not so sure whether we’ve finalized a deal yet but he has been doing a little bit of training with us.
I think the deal is very close to being finalized and I think on the basis of where we are at the minute with our squad and the injuries, as soon as we get him fit he’ll be a really good addition based on his previous record as a footballer.
He won’t be on the bench on Wednesday or Saturday against West Brom but I certainly hope with a few good days training with the lads he’ll be close in seven or 10 days… if he signs the contract.”
Although the transfer window is closed, West Ham would still be allowed to sign the midfielder because he is a free agent and has no ties to a club.
Bringing in a player of Diarra’s quality would surely help West Ham as the Hammers have only won once in the Premier League since Christmas. He is strong defensively and has experience playing at some of the top clubs in the world, competing in the Champions League as well as earning 28 caps for France.
