Chris Smalling was on the field for all of 15 seconds before he scored a goal with his first touch of the game to put Manchester United up 1-0 against Burnley.

Smalling’s second goal took considerably to score — 39 minutes, to be exact — but proved to be the winner at Old Trafford on Wednesday, sending Man United back into the Premier League’s top three.
Smalling, who entered for the injured Phil Jones in the game’s sixth minute, had a fairly torrid time defending against Burnley forward Danny Ings for much of the game, but without his two goals which came very much against the run of play in both instances, it’s easy to imagine Burnley snatching a point ‚ or worse, all three — from the game.
