WATCH: USMNT’s Bobby Wood scores pair of goals to snap out of funk

Bobby Wood was in a bad, bad spot. The 22-year-old Hawaii native struggled to find playing time with 1860 Munich, and struggled through a pair of anonymous friendlies for Jurgen Klinsmann’s USMNT in recent weeks.

An inter-division loan to Erzgebirge Aue, however, has Wood in much better spirits. He scored a pair of goals in a 3-2 road win over Fortuna Dusseldorf on Friday, boosting Erzgebirge out of the drop zone.

The finishes were simple enough, as Wood worked himself into position to redirect a poke both of his goals home, but that didn’t stop Klinsmann from taking to Twitter to celebrate the forward’s performance.
