New Arsenal signing Gabriel Paulista has very little knowledge of the English language, and communication has been an issue according to teammate Kieran Gibbs.
Fortunately for Gooners ready to panic at the news of their big-money signing struggling to adapt, this isn’t as big of a deal as it sounds.

Arsenal has done it before, and they’ll get it sorted out, but it’s still very intriguing to read about a player getting instructions translated to him.
“He doesn’t speak any English at the moment,” Gibbs said. “But it was the same with Alexis Sanchez when he came to the club and look at him now.
“It’s a bit like pointing and shouting because in training Steve Bould goes through it with him. One of the Spanish boys then translates, so he knows what to do.
“That’s where it starts from. It’s so important to get a good understanding. It won’t take him long.”
This is a big reason a preseason can be super helpful for transition instead of jamming a new piece into a load of important matches. We’ll see if the sign language hold-up hurts Arsenal’s Top Four chances, but we seriously doubt it.
