The final two first legs of the 2015 UEFA Champions League’s Round of 16 are underway, with only one goal on the board.

That goal, however, has set the stage for a fairly seismic upset at the Emirates.

Here’s where we stand after 45 minutes in London and Leverkusen.

Geoffrey Kondogbia’s first ever UEFA Champions League goal is a big road tally that will make life difficult for Arsenal moving forward.

The 37th minute found danger from Arsenal, as Santi Cazorla fed a terrific ball into the right of the box, and Hector Bellerin sent a cross in that Olivier Giroud sent over the bar.

And Monaco found the opened a minute later, a long rip from Kondogbia which deflects off Per Mertesacker to wrong-foot David Ospina.

The hosts looked stronger than expected given recent Bundesliga form, but Atletico Madrid is 45 minutes away from escaping the first leg relatively unscathed.

After a significant ‘feeling out’ period that had Atletico struggling to keep up with Bayer’s high-press, Bayer nearly took a deserved 1-0 lead.

Bayer defender Emir Spahic found some space 30 yards out and rattled a shot off the intersection of the right post and the crossbar. Keeper Miguel Moya flew to get a tiny piece of it, but it flew past.
