The bomb, which was of British descent, was defused after an area of 275 yards surrounding its location was evacuated. The evacuations included Dortmund’s stadium, causing manager Jurgen Klopp’s afternoon press conference ahead of this weekend’s Ruhr derby, against Schalke, to be moved elsewhere.

Thursday’s discovery comes less than two months after construction workers discovered 11 — 11 — unexploded WWII bombs at the site of a 2018 World Cup stadium in Volgograd.

Per the AP‘s story, “unexploded ordnance from WWII is still frequently found in Germany, and that regularly results in temporary evacuations such as Thursday’s.”
