Sustenance, thy name is trophies.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho was giddy, well, as giddy as The Special One allows himself to be. The Blues had won the League Cup with a 2-0 triumph over Tottenham, and taking that first bit of hardware in reign No. 2 as Chelsea boss was feeling pretty good.
“I am like a kid winning the first one,” the Portuguese said. “It’s hard for me to live without titles. I need to feed myself with them.”
Out of the FA Cup at the hands of Bradford, Mourinho still has two more trophies in his sight for this season: the Premier League title and the UEFA Champions League crown.

One looks a tougher feat that the other right now, though both remain realistic. Chelsea has a five-point lead and a match-in-hand on second-place Manchester City in the Premier League, and only four of its remaining matches are against contenders for European places. Of those, three are at home and the fourth is a visit to the Emirates Stadium, where Chelsea hasn’t lost since 2010 (2W-2D).
As for the Champions League, a 1-1 draw at PSG has them a win or scoreless draw away from advancing to the quarterfinals.
While the Blues have 1:8 odds to win the Premier League and we aren’t betting against them, the sports bettors have Chelsea as just the fourth-most likely to win Europe’s top crown. The club is behind Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Barcelona, all of whom would need to truly falter in second legs to drop out of the competition.
Barring a catastrophic run of injuries, Chelsea looks set for a double, but the treble will take all of Mourinho’s managerial magic and likely some luck. How do you think this season plays out for the Portuguese boss?
