Ronald Koeman expects Southampton to bounce back from another “difficult period”


Southampton have been here before this season — struggling through a difficult run of results, struggling to score goals and hearing from every direction that their magical season and run toward the Champions League places is about to fall apart.

And yet, manager Ronald Koeman doesn’t seem all that bothered, acknowledging this isn’t the first time his side has wobbled, and expecting them to bounce back just the same. Speaking to reporters (above video) ahead of Saints’ Premier League clash with Crystal Palace on Tuesday (Watch live online via Live Extra, 2:45 pm ET), Koeman was straightforward in his expectations.

“Of course [the results have been] a little more difficult in the last few games. We had a difficult period in the beginning of December. I think the reaction of the players was fantastic after that and I expect the same reaction in the last 11 games.

“[We’re] struggling in scoring goals, but still I think we play out of good organization. We don’t [concede] a lot of goals, but in an attacking way, we have to improve ourselves.”
