The game in 100 words (or less): A classic case of “this game is begging for a goal, then it’ll open up.” Despite Kaka’s best attempts to provide an opening goal, we soldiered through nearly 75 scoreless minutes before Houston Dynamo goalkeeper Tyler Deric unleashed the Gaffe of the Year, resigning his side to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Orlando City SC, the expansion club’s first MLS victory.

Three moments that mattered
41′ — Kaka’s free kick somehow saved by Deric — Look, Tyler Deric is was having the finest start to the 2015 season of any player in MLS. He stood on his head last week against Columbus, and he picked up where he left off with a world-class save of Kaka’s side-netting-bound free kick just before halftime.

65′ — Deric turns Kaka away again — Deric was forced to make another strong save against Kaka after the Brazilian skated past the Dynamo defense and entered the penalty area one-on-one. Kaka went for the finish through Deric’s legs, but 26-year-old ‘keeper not only made the kick, but played the ball back off Kaka before going out for a goal kick.
74′ — Deric’s blunder puts OCSC on the board — Oh, Tyler Deric. It was going so well. You were my leader for 2015 MVP after the first 164 minutes of the season. Then, you did this (below video). It’s difficult to describe exactly what transpires here, so watch for yourself, but Pedro Riberiro was credited with the goal. (UPDATE: Tyler Deric was later charged with an own goal,)

Man of the match: Kaka — He was the only player who looked like scoring for 75 minutes. If not for Deric’s early heroics, Kaka bags twice on the night and it’s a comfortable Orlando victory.
