WATCH: David Villa scores his first goal in MLS at Yankee Stadium

In the first MLS match at Yankee Stadium, it just had to be David Villa to open the scoring.

The New York City FC captain scored his first goal in MLS and the first at Yankee Stadium in the 19th minute, giving NYCFC a 1-0 lead over the New England Revolution.

Villa played a quick one-two with Mix Diskerud before opening up and slotting a shot past Revs’ keeper Bobby Shuttleworth.

Over 40,000 fans were at their feet to celebrate the first of what they hope will be many David Villa tallies for NYCFC.
