Suarez defends Neymar’s “selfishness”, is “convinced he’ll win the Ballon d’Or”

Apparently there’s been some hullabaloo over Neymar not passing the ball to his fellow forwards in Barcelona’s 2-1 win over Real Madrid in this weekend’s El Clasico.

The Brazilian youngster could’ve found Luis Suarez in prime scoring position, instead opting to try his luck on goal.

But his Uruguayan teammate, who scored the winner anyway, used a radio interview in his home country to defend his teammate.

From Goal.com:

Neymar was criticized in some quarters for not finding his teammates during Sunday’s Clasico success over Real Madrid at Camp Nou. Suarez has defended the Brazilian’s performance, though, arguing that all great forwards are individualistic.

“He was right to try and finish his chances and not pass,” the Uruguay international told RAC1. “Strikers are selfish. He is a key player and I’m convinced that he will win the Ballon d’Or.”

I’m sure he doesn’t mean this season, and Suarez certainly isn’t pulling a Cristiano Ronaldo (looking and/or sounding ticked off when anyone else on his team shoots). Barcelona looks strong heading into a stretch run that will require all of its strikers performing well.
