VIDEO: Louis van Gaal on title race, Villa win and Rooney’s wonder goal

Manchester United are third in the Premier League for at least two days after beating Aston Villa 3-1 on Saturday at Old Trafford.

And manager Louis van Gaal was pleased with his team’s performance, as United didn’t really look under threat even after allowing Christian Benteke to close their 2-0 lead to 2-1.

The Red Devils manager had some choice comments, including these two on Wayne Rooney’s magnificent goal and the race for European places.

On Rooney — “That’s Rooney, eh? I don’t think there are many players who can do that. It was a fantastic goal, but also the assist. Di Maria was nearly one minute on the pitch and he got his 10th assist of the season. That is not so bad.”

On the Champions League — “NIt’s still a rat race but of course we have given a blow to Liverpool, and now Southampton lost and Liverpool lost again. It’s a big gap and now we have to wait for Tottenham. We have to play against the first three in the league.”
