After coming out of the gates hot and starting strong against Manchester United, Manchester City was completely dominated for the rest of the match, eventually falling by the score of 4-2.

City opened the match playing very well, with Jesus Navas and David Silva linking in the midfield to create opportunities for the visitors. Sergio Aguero put the Citizens ahead within the opening ten minutes, but everything went quickly downhill from there.
Ashley Young found an equalizer for United just six minutes after Aguero’s tally, and the run of play favored the Red Devils from that moment on.
Manager Manuel Pellegrini had a hard time figuring out what exactly went wrong for City, saying there were many problems in his side today. He said he couldn’t understand how a team could play so well for twenty minutes and then experience such a drop-off.
While Pellegrini tries to find some solutions, he may also want to start looking for a new job as it looks more and more likely the Chilean manager will be out at the Etihad at the end of the season. With the recent run of form City has been experiencing, they must focus on securing a top-four finish as a title defense is pretty much out of the picture now.
After winning the Premier League last season and in position for another berth in the Champions League, Pellegrini would be lauded for his work at almost any other club. But for a club with goals as high as they are at Manchester City, it’s win or go home for most managers. Just ask Roberto Mancini, who won the Premier League with City in 2012 and was sacked the following year after finishing second.
