Carvajal, Mandzukic and the latest biting sensation in world soccer

It may be turning out that biting in soccer is just as common as Luis Suarez supporters claimed in the aftermath of his World Cup chomp on Giorgio Chiellini.

Well, at least more common than the seemingly-unique trio of Suarez bites on record. First, we had Juan Arango in Liga MX.

And did Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal latch his teeth into Atletico’s Mario Mandzukic in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League match?

Carvajal denied it on Twitter, and Mandzukic seemingly backed him up, but it sure looked suspicious. And the Real defender is likely to find discipline for his punch.

Mandzukic was a physical menace in the game, and later found himself bloodied by a Sergio Ramos elbow.

Denials mean little to us, especially after Jonny Evans tried to convince us he didn’t spit at Papiss Cisse.
