Manager Luis Enrique also set a record with the win, as he is now off to the best start as manager in Barcelona history.
In his first 50 matches in charge, Enrique has won 42 of them. He has three draws and five losses on his record as well.
His 42 wins out of 50 is better than Helenio Herrera, who won 40 in the late 1950’s, and Pep Guardiola, who earned 37 wins in his first 50 tries.
Not only has Barcelona been winning under Enrique, they have been dominating. In his 50 matches, Barca has scored a whopping 143 goals while conceding just 31.
Enrique was appointed manager at Camp Nou in May of 2014, and is looking to cap off his first year in charge with a treble.
Barcelona sit first on the table in La Liga, are into the semifinals of the Champions League, and face Athletic in the Copa del Rey finals later in May.
The only other Spanish side to win a treble was Barcelona during Pep Guardiola’s first season as manager in 2008-09. Depending on how the draws shape up, Enrique could have to go through Guardiola for the treble should Barca and Bayern Munich meet in the Champions League.
