US international Aron Johannsson is still scoring over in the Netherlands, picking up his sixth goal of the season with a beautiful flick to finish off a great move by his AZ Alkmaar teammates.
A slick through ball from the right wing found defender Mattias Johansson, who acrobatically flicked it to the middle of the box where Johannsson was waiting for the tricky finish with the outside of his foot.
Johansson to Johannsson!
The goal is an important one for the 24-year-old Mobile, Alabama product. It’s his first since March 8, and in this injury-plagued season, he’s finally started to get going again. He had two assists in the last two games, and now the goal. Last time Johannsson got hot, he scored in two straight in early February just before an injury halted that stretch.
The win is also a huge one for AZ. Gunning for a Europa League spot, they currently trail Feyenoord by three points for the all-important third-place position with just two more matches to play in the season. Twente, meanwhile, is in the midst of an incredibly disappointing season by its standards, sitting in 12th position and 22 points back of third.
