If Aston Villa stays up in the Premier League, Tim Sherwood will get loads of praise for his work to keep the team safe from relegation.
But the club wouldn’t be in the position it is in now without the play of Christian Benteke, who has been in some of the best form of his career.

The 24-year-old Belgian has scored 10 goals in 13 matches under Sherwood’s lead, including nine in his last eight games.
Benteke tallied 23 times for Villa in 2013, and Sherwood believes the striker’s play has made him “too expensive” for many clubs to pry him away from Villa Park.
It would have to be a lot of money for anyone to take him from us. He’d be too expensive for a great deal of clubs in the Premier League.
If a player doesn’t want to play for the club anymore and the club he wants to go to meet the valuation then I think it’s always best to let them go.
It would be about the market value of what’s out there but I have no intention of selling Christian.”
Reports stated Louis van Gaal and Manchester United were interested in acquiring Benteke’s services, but were put off by his reported price tag of over $40 million.
Aston Villa’s trouble scoring goals has been the reason the club is battling for Premier League survival towards the bottom of the table. If Tim Sherwood can’t keep the Villans above the drop, it will be hard for the club to keep it’s top striker.
