Look, here’s the deal: Sebastian Giovinco is really good at soccer. Like, really, really good at it. That’s why Toronto FC decided to make the 28-year-old Italian midfielder the highest-paid player (roughly $7 million per year) in Major League Soccer history.
As it turns out, for $7 million per year Giovinco looks set to continuously deliver stunning assists, like this one, and stunning free-kick goals from 35 yards out, like the one you can see above.
Poor John McCarthy, who even though the free kick was taken 35 yards from goal, had no chance of stopping Giovinco’s knuckling, dipping, swerving shot. A quick FYI to other MLS teams: don’t foul TFC anywhere inside your own half, because the Atomic Ant can, and will, score on the ensuing free kick.
