When Didier Drogba signed a one-year deal to return to Chelsea this summer he only had one goal, and that was to win more trophies.
Drogba did just that, winning the League Cup in March and the Premier League title today.
It was Drogba’s fourth Premier League title with Chelsea, and his third under the leadership of Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho was one of the main reasons Drogba, now 37 years old, came back to London for a second stint at Stamford Bridge. The two have great respect for each other and Mourinho knew the Ivorian striker would be a key piece in his championship-winning side.
Chelsea’s fourth all-time leading goal scorer said it was special to win the title in front of the home supporters, as he has become a hero at Stamford Bridge.
Have we seen the last of Didier Drogba in Chelsea blue? His contract is up in June, but he showed that he can still contribute at the age of 37. He may have to play in a more limited role, but Mourinho and Drogba both would surely like to go for a repeat next season.
