Espanyol 1-1 Rayo
Espanyol could have gone level with Athletic in seventh place with a win, but failed to capitalize in a 1-1 draw with Rayo. The visitors went ahead within the opening half hour through a goal from Emiliano Insua, despite play being dominated by the home-side. Espanyol needed a late equalizer from Hector Moreno to steal a point, and now have three matches to try and earn a berth in the Europa League.

Napoli 3-0 Milan
Milan were forced to ten-men within the opening minute of play, when Mattia De Sciglio was shown a straight red just 44 seconds into the match. De Sciglio took down Marek Hamsik in the box, earning himself a sending off and giving Napoli a penalty kick. Gonzalo Higuain’s penalty was saved however, and it took Napoli 70 minutes to find the back of the net. Three goals in six minutes from Hamsik, Higuain and Manolo Gabbiadini gave Napoli the win, who now sit comfortably in fourth place in Serie A.
Atalanta 1-1 Lazio
Lazio failed to go second on the table after drawing to 17th-place Atalanta. After going down early in the second half, Marco Parolo equalized for Lazio with less than 15 minutes to play. Lazio now sit third on the table, just one point behind Roma in second for automatic qualification to the Champions League group stage. The draw gives Atalanta a nine-point buffer above the relegation zone, seemingly safe in Serie A.
