Tevez has experience converting penalties in the Champions League, as the Argentinian scored from the spot for Manchester United in the 2008 final, where the Red Devils defeated Chelsea.
On that championship-winning Manchester United team with Tevez was Patrice Evra, the two now reunited with Juventus.
After Juve’s win over Real Madrid, Evra praised the play of his teammates, singling out the superb season Tevez has been enjoying.
The most important thing was the win. It is never easy against Real and I am very proud of my team mates and staff. We prepared very well and we got the win. We are very confident. Well done, we are 50% of the way there.
Nobody expected us to get this far, it is 12 years since we got this far.
Carlos Tevez has United blood like myself. He is a champion. He has had a fantastic year and we want to win the Champions League. He is a massive professional.”
The two are relatively new to Juventus, with Tevez in his second year in Turin and Evra in his first. Evra’s mention of having “United blood” shows the commitment to winning at Old Trafford, which they have brought to Italy.
In their two seasons together at United, the pair won two Premier League titles, a Champions League title, and a League Cup. Just a few days ago, they clinched the Serie A title with Juventus.
Tevez has been one of Massimiliano Allegri’s most important players this season, his 28 goals the most he has scored in five years. Fans will be hoping his United blood will be flowing when Juventus visits Madrid next week for the second leg of the semifinals.
